Choosing a holiday property: 7 questions before you enquire

Sea views or a convenient location? Plenty of space or a cosy retreat? Finding the right holiday property starts with what matters to you. These seven questions help you send a more useful enquiry to the host.
What to check first
Compare more than photos. Read the description, check the location and make a note of the facilities you really need.
- Is the property suitable for your dates and the number of adults and children?
- How many separate bedrooms and bathrooms do you need?
- Which facilities matter to you, such as air conditioning, Wi-Fi, parking or a cot?
- How far away are the beach, shops and places you want to visit?
- Are pets allowed, and what house rules apply?
- What is the total price, including cleaning, possible extras and a security deposit?
- How do arrival, payment and cancellation work?
Ask the host directly
Include your travel dates, guest numbers and main requirements in your enquiry. Ask for confirmation of availability, the total price and the terms. On Porta Solis you contact the host directly and arrange booking and payment with them.
